Operation Stand-Walk-Run (OSWR) is a nonprofit organization founded by Dr. Aham Onyike and his colleagues, dedicated to restoring mobility through orthopedic surgical care. The foundation focuses on training and equipping surgeons, developing surgical facilities, and providing charitable care, including complex joint replacement surgeries in Nigeria.

Before OSWR was formally established, Dr. Onyike, a renowned orthopedic surgeon, led surgical missions across Nigeria and other African nations, offering free medical care to patients in need. His early efforts involved assembling multidisciplinary teams from the U.S. to collaborate with Nigerian state governments and the Federal Ministry of Health. Some of the Nigerian states visited include Abia, Imo, Enugu, Cross River, Uyo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Adamawa, Ekiti, Kaduna, and Kano, while international missions extended to Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Gambia, Ghana, and South Africa. Notably, Dr. Onyike performed the first-ever total hip replacement surgeries in Imo State at the Imo State University Teaching Hospital in Orlu and the first total knee replacement surgery in Ekiti State.

To ensure sustainable and continuous care, OSWR has partnered with the Center for Advanced Specialty Surgery. These specialized hospitals offer a full range of orthopedic and surgical services, including charitable procedures. The team has treated hundreds of patients suffering from complex orthopedic conditions and injuries, providing care such as joint replacements, sports and trauma medicine, deformity correction, and spine surgery. Through these efforts, OSWR has brought high-quality surgical care to patients in Nigeria who would have otherwise needed to seek treatment abroad.
